Man charged with series of burglary and drugs offences after Co Fermanagh vehicle search

A man in his 30s has been charged with a series of burglary and drugs offences after a vehicle was stopped and search in Co Fermanagh on Thursday.

The 34-year-old will appear in Coleraine Magistrates Court on Friday facing the charges, which relate to an ongoing investigation into a series of burglaries in Co Antrim.

Police say the charges are also connected to the search of a home in the Doagh area of Co Fermanagh earlier this year.

The accused faces 17 counts of burglary (non-dwelling), five counts of criminal damage, three counts of theft, four counts of theft from a vehicle, two counts of theft of a vehicle and attempted burglary with intent to steal.

He is also charged with a number of drugs offences with intent to supply.

"A 34-year-old man has been charged to court following the stop and search of a vehicle in the Derrylin area of Fermanagh on Thursday, June 8," a PSNI statement said.

"He is charged with 17 counts of burglary (non-dwelling), five counts of criminal damage, three counts of theft, four counts of theft from a vehicle, two counts of theft of a vehicle and attempted burglary with intent to steal.

"He is further charged with possession of Class A, Class B and Class C controlled drugs with intent to supply.

"The charges relate to an ongoing investigation into a number of rural burglaries in the Mid and East Antrim area and the search of a residential property in the Doagh area in March.

"He is expected to appear before Coleraine Magistrates Court on Friday, June 9. As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service."
