A ‘transgender’ butcher has appeared in court charged with abduction and sexually assaulting a child after an 11-year-old girl disappeared.
Andrew Miller, who also identifies as a woman called Amy George, appeared in private by video link at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Friday, February 17.
The 53-year-old, of Gattonside, was also charged with sexual assault of a young child by penetration, sexual exposure to a young child, causing a young child to look at a sexual image and being in possession of an indent photograph. He is also facing a charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
A sheriff fully committed Miller and remanded him into custody for a future appearance.
At an earlier court appearance on Wednesday, February 8, Miller arrived wearing pink nail polish and had a blanket covering his head and face. He was flanked by two guards as he was led from a transport van.
