A NSW court has heard the alleged murder of a man at a Hunter Valley train station was caught on CCTV.
Emergency services were called to Beresfield train station, west of Newcastle in New South Wales, at about 6pm on Monday, where they found a 39-year-old man critically injured on the platform.
The man was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.
Matthew Robert Breckenridge, 27, faced Maitland Local Court via audio visual link this morning, charged with murder.
The court heard he allegedly murdered 39-year-old Scott Parrott in the attack and that the incident was caught on CCTV.
The prosecution told the court the accused already had been wanted by police after he allegedly breached bail for two theft offences that occurred within hours of each other in October, including one where he allegedly stole a bottle of alcohol from a store in Kotara.
It is alleged he was found with a knife when searched by police that same day.
Mr Breckenridge's lawyer Alberto Noronha told the court his client "has a mountain to climb" in reference to the murder charge.
In refusing bail, Magistrate Robert Maiden said the prosecution had a "strong case".
Mr Breckenridge will next appear in court on the murder charge in February.
