Police have charged a man with the murder of a 44-year-old Townsville woman, whose body was found on a sandy track at Bluewater on Saturday.
The 38-year-old man has also been charged over a separate incident, where he allegedly shot at a random car on the Bruce Highway between Bowen and Mackay on Sunday.
He was arrested later that day at a service station in Proserpine, after his car was spotted by patrolling officers.
The man has been charged with one count of murder (domestic violence offence), and one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to the highway incident.
Police will allege mother of four Tania Trickey was killed at Bluewater, near Townsville, some time on Saturday morning.
A group of teenagers riding quad bikes discovered the body on a sandy track in bushland that afternoon.
It's alleged the man and Ms Trickey had been in a relationship for a few months and had driven to the remote area where the woman was later found dead.
Police have also charged the man with one count of stealing after he allegedly failed to pay for fuel at a service station.
He will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
