Michael Kurt Pringle charged with murder over death of 19-year-old Krystle Monks in Ipswich

Police were called to the scene after Ms Monks collapsed.

Michael Kurt Pringle has been charged with the alleged murder of 19-year-old Krystle Monks at a Bundamba address last Saturday.

Mr Pringle did not appear before the Roma Street Magistrates Court on Saturday morning, after his lawyer Caroline Hunter said he had requested not to.

The 21-year-old was also charged with one count of possession of dangerous drugs, and one count of possessing utensils or pipes that had been used for drugs.

He was remanded in custody and his matter will next be heard at the Ipswich Magistrates Court on March 31.

Police were called to a property in Bundamba after Ms Monks collapsed about 9:30pm last Saturday, February 4.

She was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died the following evening.

Detective Acting Superintendent Larissa Miller said Mr Pringle had been cooperating with police.

"Our thoughts are with Ms Monks's family, who as you can understand are still incredibly distressed and upset by the loss of their loved one," she said.
