A man has faced court after being accused of killing another man in Melbourne's eastern suburbs more than six months ago.
Anthony Costanzo, from Bulleen, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday, charged with one count of murder.
Homicide Squad detectives laid charges against the 34-year-old earlier in the day.
Emergency services responded to reports a man was lying dead on a street in Doncaster East on September 4, 2023.
The man's body was found near a white Holden sedan on Tidcombe Crescent before 5.50am.
Constanzo's lawyer said his client would require pain relief for a pre-existing condition while in custody.
"My client suffered an injury to the cheekbone while at work and requires oxycodone," he said.
Costanzo was previously interviewed by police after the death.
He was remanded in custody and will re-appear in court on July 1.
