Man charged with murder of Sarah Henshaw after body found

A man has been charged with murder after a woman’s body was found in a layby near the M1.

Sarah Henshaw’s body was found in a layby near the M1 motorway just after midnight on Monday. The 31-year-old was last seen at her home in Ilkeston on Tuesday evening last week.

Her mother, Lorraine, has paid tribute to her “incredibly kind” daughter.

“Sarah was my first-born child – and was a wonderful daughter and sister,” she said.

“She was also a fantastic mum to her two girls, who she loved so much.

“Sarah would always put others first and was always incredibly kind.

“As a family, we are all devastated by her death. We miss her so much and will love her forever.”

Darren Hall, 36, of Ilkeston, has been charged with her murder and will appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, Derbyshire Police said.

Officers want to speak to anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of a blue Ford Transit van, registration beginning YP16, in the early hours of Wednesday June 21 around the area of J29 of the M1 and the A617 towards Chesterfield.

Anyone with information can call police on 101 quoting incident number 444. You can also anonymously contact the independent charity CrimeStoppers, on 0800 555 111, or by visiting the CrimeStoppers website.
