A man will face court on Thursday, accused of plotting the fatal shooting of Sydney crime figure Mahmoud "Brownie" Ahmad in Sydney's south-west.
On Wednesday, a 26-year-old man was arrested during a vehicle stop at Campsie and charged with murder and participating in a criminal group.
It's understood police will allege in court the man did not pull the trigger, but was closely involved in planning the attack on Ahmad.
He's the third man to be charged in relation to Ahmad's killing with two others before the courts on lesser charges.
Ahmad, 39, was shot dead outside an associate's home in Greenacre in April.
He was sprayed with bullets before his killer or killers fled the ambush that police believe stemmed from underworld tensions.
Jason Laria, 37, was charged with being an accessory after the fact to Ahmad's murder as well as unrelated drug supply and criminal group offences. His bail application in the NSW Supreme Court was refused in October.
A 49-year-old has also been charged with being an accessory before and after the fact to murder.
The crime figure had only been free from prison six months after serving five years for manslaughter when he was slain in April.
Senior police say he was aware of an $1 million bounty being offered for his life.
On Wednesday, police searched a Campsie home and seized several items for forensic examination.
The 26-year-old man is due to appear before Bankstown Local Court on Thursday.
