A 37-year-old man has been charged with murder after a father was stabbed to death outside a bar in Greenwich.
David Joseph Johnson, 37, has been charged with the murder of Ibrahim Bah and was due to appear before Highbury Corner magistrates court on Wednesday morning.
Mr Bah, 34, suffered fatal injuries after an altercation which is believed to have started outside Belushi’s Bar on Greenwich High Road in the early hours of Sunday.
Officers from British Transport Police and the Met Police were called at 2.15am, and Mr Bah was declared dead at the scene near to Greenwich train station.
In a statement on Tuesday, Ibrahim’s family said: “Ibrahim was a kind loving father who loved his family very much and will be terribly missed, ‘he belongs to Allah and he returns to Allah’ we wish that justice will be served.”
Johnson, from Greenwich, has been charged with murder and possessing a knife at Greenwich Train Station.
“This was a shocking and brutal act of violence which has resulted in a man tragically losing his life today”, said Detective Chief Inspector Steve May.
“While we are at an early stage of our investigation, we believe this attack followed a fight close to the entrance of Belushi’s bar on Greenwich High Road.”
A 29-year-old man from Lewisham who was arrested on Sunday has since been released and no further action will be taken against him, said police.
