A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in a Welsh seaside town. Officers received a call at 10.56pm on Sunday July 10 r egarding a woman in a "distressed state" on Marine Parade, Barmouth.
Police attended the scene with paramedics however the woman sadly passed away. Detectives said her death was being treated as suspicious and an investigation was launched. She has now been named Margaret Barnes, aged 71, from Birmingham.
North Wales Police has also confirmed that a man from Barmouth has been charged with her murder. David Redfern, aged 45, from Barmouth has been charged and is reprimanded in police custody. He is due to appear before magistrates court on August 5.

A statement from North Wales Police said: "A man has been charged in connection with the death of a woman in Barmouth last month. Margaret Barnes, 71 from Birmingham died on Marine Parade in the early hours of Monday 11th July.
"45-year-old David Redfern from Barmouth has been charged with her murder. He remains in police custody and will appear before magistrates tomorrow."
