A man has been charged with the murder of a 70-year-old woman after she was found dead at home in Kensington, west London.
Rita Fleming was found dead at her house on Golborne Road on Sunday 23 June. Clifford Cowen, 57, was charged with her murder on 4 July, the Metropolitan police said.
Cowen was initially arrested on 23 June, police said, and was bailed “while further inquiries were carried out”.
He was charged by detectives on Thursday 4 July and appeared at Wimbledon magistrates court on Friday 5 July charged with murder. He will next appear in custody at the Old Bailey.
Cowen, of Kensington Park Gardens in Notting Hill, and Fleming were known to each other.
Her next of kin were informed and continue to be supported by specially trained officers.
