Man charged with murder after woman found dead in Mascot unit in Sydney

A man has been charged with murder after allegedly fatally stabbing his female partner of 13 years in Sydney's south, a court has been told.

Lisa Fenwick, believed to be 59, was found with multiple stab wounds in a unit on Church Avenue, Mascot, on Sunday evening, NSW Police said.

Emergency services were called to the house about 6:10pm after reports of a domestic-related incident.

According to paramedics Ms Fenwick was stabbed multiple times in the chest, the court heard.

Anthony Eriksen, 61, was arrested and taken to Mascot Police Station while an investigation into the incident commenced.

He was charged with murder and appeared before Parramatta Bail Court on Monday via audio-video link, where no application for bail was made.

Mr Eriksen is next due before court on April 20.

According to Mr Eriksen's LinkedIn profile, he most recently worked as a food educator, after employment as a fund manager.

It also states he held two senior NSW government roles as a procurement analyst in 2017, and information technology project manager in 2014.

Local resident Prateek Mundae said he was shocked, as nothing like this had happened before.

"A stabbing, is very daunting to hear," he told reporters.

"It's quite surprising. I've been staying over here for three years."
