A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found seriously injured in a property in Somerset and later died in hospital.

Olivia Wood, 29, of Northwich, Cheshire, was found in a serious condition by paramedics at an address in Portway, Frome, at about 3am on 30 July. She later died in hospital.

Keiron Goodwin, 32, from Frome, has been charged with murder and appeared before Bristol magistrates.

Police, who were called to the address by the ambulance service, have not disclosed the nature of the injuries she suffered.

Neighbourhood Inspector Rose Green, of Avon and Somerset police, said: “Our thoughts at this devastating time are with Olivia’s family who are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer who will continue to keep them updated of inquiries into her tragic death.

“We’d like to reassure the local community, we do not believe there to be any wider risk to the public.”

Goodwin is next due to appear at the court on 7 October for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
