A man has been charged with murder after the death of a man found with stab wounds in northwest Sydney.

The 26-year-old was arrested about 1.35pm on Sunday when police stopped a vehicle on Nipper Street, Strathfield.

He was taken to Burwood Police Station where detectives charged him with murder.

His arrest came after a 28-year-old was found with stab wounds to his chest at Narcissus Avenue in Quakers Hill about 8.30pm on Friday.

Paramedics worked to save the injured man but he died en route to hospital.

A crime scene was set up at the residential street.

Detectives probing the incident asked anyone with CCTV footage, dashcam or information about what happened to come forward.

The accused man was refused bail and will appear before Burwood Local Court on Monday.
