A 35-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences after he allegedly stabbed a 37-year-old woman on a train.
On Saturday, 23 November, emergency services were alerted to Ravensworth Railway Station at about 1.30pm following reports of a stabbing.
When officers arrived, they were told of an altercation that occurred between two passengers before the woman was stabbed.
A woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for stab wounds to the ribs. She was then flown to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
Shortly after, police deployed a Taser and OC spray during an arrest against a man, who was allegedly carrying a knife.
Following his arrest, the man was taken to John Hunter Hospital under police guard. He was then released into police custody and was taken to Waratah police station.
Police say the man and the woman are believed to be known to each other.
The man has since been charged with ten offences including wounding person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (domestic violence), take/detail person with intent to obtain advantage/cause aggravated bodily harm (domestic violence), committing s114 offence, common assault (domestic violence), stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic violence), two counts x common assault, two counts x stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm and intimidate police officer in execution of duty without aggravated bodily harm.
The man was refused bail and is set to appear at Parramatta Local Court later today.
