A Queensland man has been charged with knowingly giving women he met online a serious sexually transmitted disease.

The 24-year-old allegedly had intimate relationships with multiple women he met on social media over nine months between 2022 and 2023.

Police will allege the Campwin Beach man knowingly transmitted herpes to women on two occasions.

He was arrested in Sarina, about 34km south of Mackay, on Tuesday.

Police charged the man with two counts of acts intending to cause grievous bodily harm or transmit a serious disease, distributing intimate images, and four counts of contravening a domestic violence offence.

He was to appear at Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Anyone who has had a similar experience is urged to contact police.
