Willie Parker, 38, was shot in that block and pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 6:24 p.m. on April 22, 2009, according to Cook County medical examiner’s office records. He lived in the same neighborhood.
He was sitting in a parked vehicle about 5:47 p.m. when Scott got out of another vehicle and fired shots at him, police said. When Parker tried running away, Scott continued shooting at him and struck him in the back.
An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
When the new charge was filed Sept. 24, Scott was already in custody on a murder charge in the 2016 shooting of Tommie Lee Pledge at a Humboldt Park cellphone store. He has been held without bail since his March 2016 arrest.
Scott was scheduled to appear in court on the new murder charge on Tuesday, police said.
