A 43-year-old man has been charged with the criminal damage of a Ulez camera in Hillingdon, west London.
Matthew Houston, of Uxbridge, was charged after paint was sprayed on a camera in Long Lane on Monday, January 29.
He was arrested in nearby Hercies Road a short time later.
Houston was also charged with having a spray paint can with intent to cause criminal damage and assault on an emergency worker after an officer was injured during his arrest.
Houston appeared at Ealing Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, January 30.
He was released on bail to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on Wednesday, February 28.
The Ultra-Low Emissions Zone (Ulez) was expanded to include all of Greater London in August last year.
Under the scheme, drivers of older, polluting vehicles which do not meet emissions standards have been slapped with a £12.50 daily charge.
The scheme has proved controversial and has been the subject of ongoing protests.
Last month, demonstrators wearing yellow high-vis jackets gathered in Trafalgar Square, urging passing motorists to “honk if you hate Ulez”.
