A man was charged with attempted murder of a Merseyside police officer.
Thomas McComish was charged with attempted murder and other offences after police were called to reports of a man in the street with weapons on Monday, December 5. Officers went to Parr Mount Street, in St Helens, at around 9.20pm after a man was reported to have a bottle and a knife.
They searched the area and found a man, close to The Mount church on Traverse Street, who was reportedly aggressive towards officers. The man was disarmed and arrested by police.

During the incident, one of the officers suffered a minor injury. No other people were reported injured during the incident.
As a result, the 33-year-old, of Morgan Street, St Helens, has now been charged with attempted murder; attempting to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent; possession of a bladed article in a public place; and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
He was due to appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court today, Thursday, December 8.
