Man charged with attempted murder after armed police raid Dundee home

Armed police locked down a Dundee street as they raided a house and arrested a man.

Officers lifted the 45-year-old on a warrant after the operation in Greendykes Road late on Wednesday evening.

He was later charged in connection with an attempted murder and serious assault at a property on Hepburn Street on Tuesday.

Local residents in the area reported seeing armed police and the man being led away by officers at about 10.30pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 45-year-old man was arrested at a property on Greendykes Road in Dundee during the evening of Wednesday, 19 January following the execution of a warrant.

“The man has been charged in connection with an attempted murder and serious assault at a property on Hepburn Street in Dundee on Tuesday, 18 January.

“Specialist officers assisted during the execution of the warrant and the local community are thanked for their understanding.

“The man is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Friday, 21 January.”
