Man charged with attacking woman at Travelodge appears in court

A man has been named after a woman was allegedly held captive at a Travelodge in Bromborough.

Jack Samuel, 23, of Actons Wood Lane, Runcorn, Cheshire, appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with five counts relating to a woman. He was charged with one count of false imprisonment, where it is alleged he assaulted and unlawfully and injuriously imprisoned her and detained her against her will at Travelodge on February 18 this year.

Samuel was also charged with one count of wounding with intent, and one count of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, all which allegedly took place on the same date at the Travelodge on Pool Lane in Bromborough.

It is also alleged that Samuel engaged in controlling or coercive behaviour between September 9, 2022, and February 15, 2023, during which time he allegedly monitored movements, demanded to know whereabouts, and monitored and controlled the social media accounts of the woman.

A fifth charge was also brought against Samuel, as it is alleged that between January 1, and January 31, Samuel disclosed a private sexual photograph or film of the woman, without her consent. Police were called to reports a woman had been assaulted at around 12.15am, on Sunday, February 19 at the hotel on Pool Lane, Bromborough.

At the scene officers found the victim, in her 20s, had head injuries and she was rushed to hospital. Samuel will next appear at Liverpool Crown Court on March 20.
