The 53-year-old man arrested and charged with the murder of 19-year-old Audrey Griffin has died in police custody.
Adrian Noel Torres was being held at the Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre at Silverwater Correctional Complex.
According to a statement released by NSW Police, he was found unresponsive in his holding cell at 4.50pm on Thursday by Corrective Services personnel. Paramedics were called, but Torres was not able to be revived and died at the scene.

A crime scene was established by police who are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
However, his death is not being treated as suspicious.
“Corrective Services NSW and NSW Police investigate all deaths in custody regardless of the circumstances,” a spokesperson for Corrective Services NSW told the ABC.
The news of Torres’ death came just hours after a vigil was held for Griffin on a beach in Terrigal, in which hundreds of people gathered to pay tribute to her.
Griffin is remembered as a vibrant, kindhearted and talented teenager with gifted athletic abilities.

Tragically, Griffin’s body was found in a creek in Erina on the Central Coast on March 24 after a night out with friends.
Although she had been reported missing for 36 hours, police initially deemed her disappearance non-suspicious. However, investigators later received information which implicated Torrens.
Torrens was believed to have had an altercation with Griffin. He was later arrested, charged with her murder and due to face court in June.
