Luigi Mangione, the individual accused in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, is scheduled to appear in a Pennsylvania court on Thursday. The legal proceedings will involve a preliminary hearing on the charges he is facing in Pennsylvania, followed by an extradition hearing overseen by a separate judge. During the extradition hearing, a ruling will be made regarding the next steps for Mangione's return to New York to address the indictment, as confirmed by the Blair County district attorney.

Mangione's attorney, Karen Friedman Agnifilo, has stated that he will not contest extradition to New York. In New York, Mangione is confronted with 11 charges, including first-degree murder. If found guilty, he could potentially receive a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's office led by Alvin Bragg.
