A second man has been charged over the alleged conspiracy to murder underworld figure Ibrahem Hamze in Sydney last year.
Police allege the attempt on Hamze's life on August 14 at North Sydney was part of the ongoing conflict between the city's organised crime networks involving the Hamzy and Alameddine families.
The plan to kill Hamze was interrupted by police when they tried to stop the driver of a stolen Mercedes on Walker Street at North Sydney.
The driver sped off but the car was later found abandoned on Miller Street in Cammeray where two armed men escaped by carjacking a Toyota Camry after threatening the driver.
Detectives from the State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad subsequently established Strike Force Gillwinga to investigate the crime.
So far two men - aged 31 and 19 - have been charged over their alleged roles in the incident and remain before the courts.
On Wednesday a 26-year-old prisoner at Parklea Correctional Centre was served with a Future Court Attendance Notice for the offence of conspiring and agreeing to murder a person.
Police will allege in court the man was involved in organising and directing others in the attempted murder of Hamze.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Parramatta Local Court next Thursday.
Ibrahem Hamze is the cousin of murdered gangster Mejid Hamzy and older brother of former Brothers 4 Life gang leader Bassam Hamzy -- who is serving time for murder in Goulburn Supermax.
