A man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Harrow.

Police were called to Wellesley Road after reports of an attack at 7.13pm on Wednesday.

Two men were found with stab wounds. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, Hamid Mani, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shakur Idan, 20, was charged with murder in connection with the incident on Sunday. He will appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 14.

The second victim, aged 19, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital where his injuries were assessed as not life-threatening.

He has been arrested on suspicion of murder and will be taken into custody when he is discharged from hospital.

Idan was also taken to hospital after being found nearby with stab wounds. His injuries were assessed as not life-threatening of life-changing and he was subsequently arrested.

Detective Geoff Grogan, who is leading the investigation, said: “Hamid lost his life through an act of violence and my thoughts are with his family and friends who are understandably devastated.

“Whilst we have made significant progress with our investigation, I believe that there are still people who witnesses what happened, but have not yet spoken to us.

“We believe Hamid had been involved in an altercation outside St George’s Shopping Centre a short time before moving to Wellesley Road where he was attacked.

“These events occurred in broad daylight, and I am confident sure that elements of both incidents will have been witnessed.

“It is vital that we continue to build a clear picture of the moments leading up to the attack.

“I would urge anyone who has information that may assist the investigation to contact police today.”

Matt Cray, from the local policing team in north-west London, added:"We are continuing to provide support to our colleagues who are investigating this tragic loss of life.

“I have spoken with representatives from our community and the local authority to discuss what measures are being implemented to reassure people in Harrow.

“You will have seen extra officers in the area, and this will continue. I would urge you to speak with them to discuss concerns or any worries you may have."

Anyone who can help is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 6726/09Aug. You can also share information directly with detectives online.
