A man has been charged after the discovery of a suspect device led to the evacuation of Tallaght garda station on Friday evening.
Earlier that evening, officers on active patrol in the Tallaght area arrested a male. On arrival back at Tallaght garda station an initial inspection of a bag in possession of the male "indicated contents of concern".
The garda station was evacuated at around 7pm as a precaution and the Irish Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal was requested. It reopened at around 9pm on Friday evening and the bag and contents were removed to face further technical and forensic examination.
A garda spokeswoman said: "The man, aged in his 30s was detained under Section 30, Offences Against the State Act, 1939 and has since been charged.
"He is due to appear before Tallaght District Court, this morning Monday 29th May, 2023 at 10.30a.m. Investigations ongoing."
