Man charged after festivalgoer's jaw 'shattered' at Belladrum music festival

A man has been arrested over an alleged attack at a Belladrum campsite after a festivalgoer's jaw was left broken.

Adis Delic suffered serious facial injuries at the music festival's red camp area at 10.30pm on Friday, July 29. The 40-year-old was given first aid at the site before being taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

He had to go undergo major surgery to reconstruct his jaw back into place. The bone was left broken on both sides, with one tooth stuck to the side of his mouth - leaving him unable to swallow.

Adis, from Elgin, was unable to eat solid food and was told by his surgeon he may not get any feeling back in his lower lip for a year as his nerves were so badly damaged.

Police have since confirmed a 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear in court at a later date and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Adis previously told the Record how he had been attending a music festival for the first time when the alleged attack took place. He said: "I've never been to a festival before as it's not really my scene, but I recently lost my father so I've been stepping out to try new things.

"It has knocked me because it was just so unexpected. I've never been in so much pain in my life."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault at the Belladrum Tartan Music Festival on Friday, July 29, 2022. A 40-year-old man was given first aid at the site before being taken to Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, with a serious facial injury following an incident in the red camp area around 10.30pm.

"The 25-year-old man is due to appear in court at a later date. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
