A man has been charged after a car crashed into a pub in Tasmania.

Police were called to the scene in Forth, a small farming town 11km west of Devonport, following reports a car crashed into the front of the building just before 7pm on Saturday.

There were reports of a verbal altercation between the driver and two patrons before the incident.

One person was taken to the North West Regional Hospital for minor injuries.

Nobody else was physically injured during the incident and the driver left the scene before police arrived.

A 53-year-old Spreyton man has since been charged with assault and bailed to appear at Devonport Magistrates Court on March 4.
