A man has been charged with shooting another man in broad daylight after a car crash in Queensland's north.
Police say two cars crashed in Edge Hill, a suburb of Cairns, on Thursday afternoon where one of the drivers, a 35-year-old man, got out and shot a 43-year-old man in the other vehicle before both of the men fled.
"They left the scene quite quickly," Detective Acting Inspector Jason Chetham told reporters on Thursday.
The incident sparked an emergency declaration where people were urged to avoid the area.
The injured man was found on Thursday night with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.
The accused gunman was arrested on Sunday and has been charged with acts intended to maim, disfigure, or disable and contravening an order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.
The Varsity Lakes man will face Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday.
