A man was caught "behaving inappropriately" on a Merseyside beach in broad daylight.
Officers from Merseyside Police were conducting county lines operations on Marine Drive in Southport on Tuesday, August 16 at around 2.10pm. Concerned visitors to the beach and RNLI officers rushed to tell police there was a man "behaving inappropriately on the beach."
Police found the man and went over to speak to him, however he attempted to flee the scene, being detained by officers a short time later. A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of outraging public decency.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said today the man who was arrested has now been sectioned under the Mental Health Act. The original statement, which was posted on Sefton Police Facebook page said: "In other recent news, Police Officers from Team 1 of the Southport Local Policing Team were conducting a 'county lines' operation on Marine Drive on Tuesday, August 16, when RNLI lifeguards and members of the public alerted them to a man behaving inappropriately on the beach.
"On being approached by officers, the man attempted to run off but was detained. The 42 year old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of outraging public decency. An investigation into the incident continues."
