A man has died in a car crash following a brief police chase after reports he left the scene of a murder in Yorkshire, police said. Humberside Police is investigating after a woman’s body was found at a house in Beverley, near Hull, in the early hours of Monday (July 25).
The force has referred itself to the police watchdog as there had been a “short pursuit” before the fatal crash at around 6.30am. Officers had been called to reports of concern for a woman at a property in Samman Road, where they found a body upon attending the scene.
A man was reported to have left the address in a Volkswagen Polo at around 6am, police said. The car was later spotted by officers on a road between Seaton and Hornsea.
