A 29-year-old man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after an alleged assault at a pub in St Mellons on Friday. Police confirm that two men, aged 32 and 33, have been arrested and are in police custody after officers were called to the incident at around 11.20pm at Melrose Inn in Cardiff.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the pub said that they remain closed to the public while they assist the police with their investigation. Posting on social media, they wrote: "Due to an incident that happened in our pub on the 16th of December we will remain closed to the public while we continue to support the police with their investigation. We send our thoughts to the person who is currently in hospital and we will be offering support to our team members."

South Wales Police said they were called shortly before 11.20pm on Friday, December 16, to reports of an alleged assault on a man at the Melrose Inn, St Mellons. Detective Chief Inspector Andy Miles said: “A 29-year-old man was taken to hospital with very serious injuries. Two men, aged 32 and 33, have been arrested and are in police custody.
