Early mornings sometimes come with the delights of a McDonald's breakfast, whether you go for a sausage McMuffin or the iconic hash browns.
While things sometimes go wrong, with sauces forgotten or food slightly cold, customers still expect to get something resembling their order - even at six in the morning.
Unfortunately for unsuspecting Thomas Shannon, he was left in a state of "pure confusion" after opening up the fast-food bag to find 315 sachets of salt instead of his McMuffin.
He tweeted a picture of the bizarre mishap and quickly received thousands of likes, retweets and replies from other users who were just as baffled as he was.

"I'm still starving now, I think fruit and fibre may be the breakfast of choice from now on," the 34-year-old, from Liverpool, said. "I guess the salt was for the customers, but mistakes happen – especially as we're all tired at 6:30 am.
He had ordered a double sausage and egg McMuffin meal and a latte from Skelmersdale McDonald's on the M58 on February 13, while on his way to the airport early in the morning.
"About 20 minutes after leaving, I checked the order and was left in pure confusion," said Thomas, "I absolutely didn't expect to feel salt sachets when I reached in."
In the now viral tweet, he wrote: "Early one this morning, thought I'd get a little maccies by the way of sustenance. [sic]
"Imagine my joy, upon joining the M58 and setting off upon my way, to find that instead of a Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin I had instead been furnished with a bag of salt.
"What a treat."
Despite the strange mix up, the project manager was able to joke about the situation, even after individually counting all 315 sachets.
Specsavers replied to his tweet and wrote: "Why so salty?" while another comment claimed: "This is my favourite tweet of all time. Ever. Only you."
Another person said: "I'd have actual tears". Thomas responded to this person, saying: "I was laughing my head off cos I didn't know what else to do. You know the way you're reaching for it cos you need to look at where you’re going, my head was blown apart when I realised it was sachets."
Ryan Oakes added: "Great stuff – stuff like this brings a little bit of joy to the day mate."
Thomas followed up with two further tweets saying: "One normal day it's all I'm after.
"Had to count it. 315 sachets of salt hahahaha."
He added: "I always post things I find funny on social media, as mad things are always happening to me. I’d order there again, though maybe this is a message from now on to stop."
McDonald's has been approached for comment.
