Man attempts huge swimming pool stunt at birthday party - but gets it spectacularly wrong

When it comes to our birthdays, we all like to have a bit of a celebration - see some of our loved ones, maybe have a drink or two.

But one man who was recently celebrating his friend's 30th birthday decided to take things a little further than that.

Dimitry Prigorodov, a banker from Russia rented a cottage for the weekend to mark his big day with some of his nearest and dearest.

And on his birthday his pal Cyril decided he wanted to really mix things up and pull off a big stunt to impress the birthday boy, unfortunately things didn't quite go to plan for him.

Cyril had an idea while sitting near the cottage's indoor swimming pool - what if he jumped through the upstairs viewing area and into the water?

He resolved to give it a go as his friends watched on and filmed his antics.

However it ended up like something straight out of the show Jackass, as the man crashed into the glass panel surrounding the pool, shattering it into the water.

In a video of the accident, posted on Dimitry's Instagram, his fall prompts a loud "ohhh" from onlookers.

Despite injuring himself in the fall, Cyril said he doesn't regret a thing.

His friend Dimitry explained: "It was my birthday and I rented a cottage to celebrate. We were celebrating and drinking alcohol. It seemed to us that we could try and jump in principle."

But things didn't end well for Cyril.

"The result was sad: torn ligaments, the left leg does not work, the hand is the same… he has had two operations and had a badly bruised chest."

He adds that one upside to the incident is that they managed to get away without a hefty fine from the cottage rental company for damage, due to ‘incorrect drafting of the contract’ at the point of rental.

The message is loud and clear though folks; definitely don't try anything like this at home!
