Man arrested over drug driving while on A96 in Aberdeen with daughter, 10, in car

Cops have arrested a man in connection with drug driving on a dangerous Scots road with his 10-year-old daughter in the car.

Officers in Aberdeen were carrying out a road check on the A96 in Aberdeen when they encountered the 35-year-old man with his child.

Upon inspection they discovered a quantity of drugs and a test confirmed the man was also under the influence.

The A96, running from Aberdeen through Keith, Elgin, Nairn and ending at Inverness, is considered one of the most lethal in the country.

Police Scotland Road Policing Unit warned in a tweet that more people are killed on the road than any other in the area.

It read: "More people are killed on the A96 than any other road in the north east.

" Drugs are often a contributory factor.

"Male arrested at a North East Road Police Unit checkpoint near Tyrebagger in Aberdeen for drug driving and possession with 10 year old daughter in the car."

A Police Scotland spokepserson said: “A 35-year-old man was arrested in connection with road traffic offences on the A96 at Tyrebagger by North-East Road Policing Unit Officers on Tuesday, 17 May.

"A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
