Police have arrested a man after three cars were torched in a Dundee car park.
Officers launched an investigation after the vehicle was deliberately torched and two other cars were affected by the blaze in Lochee early on Tuesday.
Emergency crews sealed off the British Heart Foundation car park in Burnside Street just after 6am.
It is understood forensic officers were at the scene during the day sifting through evidence.
The incident follows a similar attack in the Fintry area of the city at the weekend.
The local Courier newspaper spoke to locals in the area who said the cars were “well alight.”
One man told the paper: “I can’t say I’m particularly surprised by what’s gone on here.
“There are always vehicles getting damaged in one way or another in that car park.
“The police have been here all morning, they arrived just before the fire service.
“It looks like the fire started in the middle car, which was well alight, before spreading to the others."
While a woman visiting shops on High Street saw forensics officers at the scene said: “That’s all I’ve seen in the news these days is car fires.
“The officer was standing quite near to the public footpath and then I saw the woman taking the pictures.
“All the cars look quite badly damaged – particularly the middle one.
“I’m thankful it wasn’t worse.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident at Burnside Street.
"A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
