A man allegedly armed with two guns has burst into an accommodation facility in a remote outback town and abducted another man after threatening patrons.

The 26-year-old forced his kidnap victim to drive him about 275km from Daly Waters to Katherine on Wednesday night, Northern Territory police said.

The offender is alleged to have fired one of the weapons in the vehicle but no injuries were reported.

The man fled when the pair arrived in Katherine before being arrested by police about midnight.

CCTV footage of the arrest shows the man, who was shirtless and wearing a pair of shorts, placing a rifle and another object on the ground before raising his hands in the air and lying on the ground.

Three officers then swooped in and handcuffed him.

He was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a weapon, kidnapping, recklessly endangering life, deprive a person of liberty and five weapons-related offences.

He has been remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Local Court on Monday.
