A man has been charged with the murder of a woman known to him at his home in regional South Australia.
Police rushed to the property in the small community of Davenport, outside Port Augusta, about 11.20pm on Thursday after reports a woman was unconscious.
Paramedics attempted to revive the 45-year-old but she died at the scene.
A resident at the property, Michael Edward Amos, was arrested by police and charged with the woman's murder.
He appeared via video link at Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Friday.
The 53-year-old did not apply for bail and was scheduled to appear in Port Augusta Magistrates Court in July 2024.
The prosecutor had initially asked for a full year until his next appearance to allow investigators to complete the necessary DNA testing.
But Magistrate Joanna Martin knocked back the request, saying 12 months is "far too long" to be back in court, instead settling on an eight month wait.
