A resident at a west London care home for adults has been arrested on suspicion of murdering another resident.
The 60-year-old died after being attacked shortly before midnight on Monday, at the facility for adults with mental health and drug abuse issues where he lived.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene in Lansbury Drive, Hayes, but was tragically pronounced dead. His family has been informed.
A 44-year-old man, who was also a resident at the centre, has been arrested on suspicion of murder, the Metropolitan Police said on Tuesday.
The arrest comes after another man was charged with murder over the weekend, following the unrelated killing of a woman less than two miles away.
Sheldon Rodrigues, 29, of Willenhall Drive, Hayes, will appear in custody at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with the murder of 39-year-old Stephanie Hansen.
Rodrigues was arrested after officers were called to Stephanie’s home in Willenhall Drive, Hayes on Saturday.
Stephanie, who has since been remembered by friends as “a beautiful young lady and a remarkable environmental heroine”, was found dead inside the property with stab injuries.
Maureen Gitau, 24, was reported missing by her family on December 10 having last been seen five days earlier, as she left her home in Evelyn Street, Deptford, on December 5.
She has not been found.
Mark Moodie, 54, of Nightingale Place, Woolwich, was charged with her murder on Sunday, Scotland Yard confirmed.
He will appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
