Man arrested on suspicion of murder after fatal shooting of Olivia Pratt-Korbel in Liverpool

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel, Merseyside Police have said.

The youngster was killed after being shot in the chest after a gunman barged into her family home in the Dovecot area of Liverpool on Monday (August 22).

It's believed the gunman was targeting two men on Kingsheath Avenue at around 10pm when Olivia's mum opened the door to see what was happening. Before she had time to react, one of the targets, forced his way into the home.

He is understood to be from the Huyton area of Liverpool and is in custody being questioned by detectives. He was arrested after an operation involving armed officers in Merseyside on Thursday night.

The man was also arrested on two counts of attempted murder.

Paying tribute to the schoolgirl, her family said Olivia was "adored by everyone," the ECHO reports.

They said: "Liv was a unique chatty, nosey little girl who broke the mould when she was born. She loved life and all it had to offer. Liv loved dressing up and was very particular on how she was dressed, like any other little girl she loved doing her makeup and nails, she was nine going on 19.

"Liv was adored by everyone who knew her and would instantly make friends with anyone and everyone. She was often seen going up and down the street on her new bike she had just got for her birthday. Although her life was short, her personality certainly wasn’t and she lived it to the most she could, and would blow people away with her wit and kindness."

An investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or contact @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111. Information, footage or images can also be submitted via the Public Portal (mipp.police.uk).
