Man arrested for 'suspected gangland offences' after car, phones and clothing seized in Dublin

A man was arrested today for "suspected gangland offences" after the search of a house in north Dublin.

Officers from the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau raided the home in Dublin 15 as part of Operation Skein, "an investigation into international BEC/Invoice re-direct fraud being committed from Ireland, and the laundering of the proceeds through accounts here."

During the search, a car, mobile phones, financial records and various items of clothing were seized as part of the investigation.

A garda spokeswoman said that a man in his 20's was arrested at the scene "for suspected gangland offences, contrary to Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2006."

She said: "He is currently detained under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at a Garda station in Dublin.

"Investigations are ongoing."
