A man has been arrested in connection with the tragic incident that occurred outside a Times Square hotel in New York City last week. The suspect, identified as Jaheem Warren, 33, allegedly targeted a young woman named Leslie Torres, 23, at random as she was walking through Midtown Manhattan on October 29, according to the New York Police Department.
Leslie Torres was found unconscious in front of the Riu Plaza New York Times Square Hotel by hotel staff after being dumped there. She was immediately taken to Mount Sinai West hospital, where she remained on life-support until her passing on November 4.
Jaheem Warren was apprehended in Prospect Park, New Jersey, by the United States Marshal Service. He has been charged with two counts of murder, as well as first-degree assault, first-degree strangulation, second-degree assault, and second-degree strangulation, as confirmed by the NYPD.
Reports indicate that Warren has a significant criminal history in New Jersey. He previously served over four years in prison for a 2019 conviction related to drug dealing and money laundering. Following his release in June 2023, he was arrested again in November of the same year on a drug dealing charge, only to be released once more on March 6.
This tragic incident has shocked the community and raised concerns about public safety in the area. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack and are working to ensure that justice is served for Leslie Torres and her loved ones.
