A Pennsylvania man, 23-year-old Trevor C. Weigel, has been arrested and charged with criminal homicide, burglary, possession of an instrument of crime, disorderly conduct, and harassment in connection with the death of 19-year-old Jaden Battista. The incident occurred in Yardley, Pennsylvania, as reported by the Bucks County District Attorney's Office.
Authorities responded to a domestic-related burglary at Battista’s home, where the first officer on the scene witnessed Weigel chasing and stabbing Battista in the upper body. Weigel then fled the scene but was later apprehended by a second officer along Interstate 295 after a pursuit that involved the use of a Taser device.
Tragically, Battista succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, with an autopsy revealing she died from multiple stab wounds to the neck and chest. Weigel, who allegedly admitted to losing control during the incident, was also injured and underwent surgery following his arrest.
According to police reports, the altercation began when Weigel arrived unannounced at Battista’s residence and forcibly entered through a window. A friend of Battista, who was on a FaceTime call with her at the time, heard a disturbance before the call abruptly ended, raising concerns about Battista’s safety.
Weigel is currently being held without bail, and it remains unclear whether he has entered a plea or secured legal representation. This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence and the importance of seeking help when in abusive situations.
