A man was arrested after a boy was hit by a car on Wednesday night.
Emergency services attended East Lancashire Road, near to the Showcase cinema at Stonedale Retail Park, at around 7.20pm on Wednesday, December 7. They found a 13-year-old boy had been hit by a silver Vauxhall Astra estate.
He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a critical condition. Merseyside police have now confirmed that a 34-year-old man, from West Derby, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was taken to a police station and remains in custody. At the time of the crash, officers reported the driver of the car stopped at the scene and were assisting police with the investigation.
