Man arrested and charged over fraud, theft, bogus crime and violence in Wishaw

Police have confirmed a man has been charged with fraud, theft and bogus crime offences in Wishaw.

In a statement, Lanarkshire Police confirmed the 25-year-old appeared in court last week in relation to offences which are alleged to have taken place over a three month period.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged with multiple offences relating to fraud, theft, bogus crime and violence in Wishaw.

“The arrest was made following a number of reports of bogus caller incidents within the area between November 2021 and January 2022.

“He appeared in Hamilton Sheriff Court on Thursday, January 20. A report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

“Anyone who believes they have been a victim of fraud should report this to police via 101, where it will be thoroughly investigated.”
