Man charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing car owner and stealing car in Adelaide's south

A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing another man and stealing his car in Adelaide's south this morning.

The victim is in hospital with serious injuries.

Police said the incident began on Galloway Road at O'Sullivan Beach at 7:30am when a man was approached by a man in a convenience store, who allegedly stabbed him and stole his Ford sedan.

A short time later, it collided with a Mazda on O'Sullivan Beach Road, they said.

The Mazda driver was uninjured and the offender ran off.

Police said he then threatened another man with a knife at a business on Devon Street at Lonsdale and stole his Toyota.

That car was tracked to Flaxmill Road, where police spiked its tyres.

The car stopped near the intersection of Main South and Beach roads in Morphett Vale, where a 32-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested.

Police later charged him attempted murder, dangerous driving, aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.

He was refused police bail and is expected to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Witness describes fight scene

The owner of the convenience store where the alleged stabbing occurred said he saw the arrested man follow another man inside and then threaten him with a knife.

He then got them to leave and watch as they fought on the ground outside.

"They were on the ground and I just went over there and [said] 'stop, stop, stop, young man' and he asked the older man to give him the car and he gave it to him," Bruce Song said.

A witness, who wished to remain anonymous, said the man ran into multiple businesses along Devon Street at Lonsdale and threatened people in search for another getaway vehicle.

He ran into an automotive business and allegedly threatened a customer.

"He said 'give me a car or I'll kill you'," the witness said.

"He tried every business along the way.

"The customer ran away to the end of the sheds to hide.

"He turned around and hopped in the vehicle, and the doors were still open when he tried driving off."
