A man has been arrested after a “quantity of chemicals” was found at a suspected bomb factory in Catford.
The Metropolitan Police were called at around 1.20pm to concerns about potentially explosive chemicals being stored at an address in Daneby Road on Friday.Officers put a cordon in place while searches were carried out and chemicals were found and recovered.
Two fire engines and two fire and rescue units were sent to the residential street.
The police confirmed the incident is not being treated as terror-related.
A 26-year-old man was arrested outside the address and was taken into police custody.
The Met has said enquiries are ongoing and investigations continue.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson added: “We were called at 1441 to assist the Metropolitan Police at an incident on Daneby Road in Catford this afternoon.
“Two fire engines and two fire and rescue units were sent to the scene.
“Firefighters liaised with emergency service partners but no action was required by the Brigade.
“The incident was left in the care of the Metropolitan Police.”
