Man arrested after pedestrian injured in crash in Wythenshawe

A man has been arrested after a pedestrian was injured in a collision in Wythenshawe tonight.

Emergency services raced to Crowland Road in Newall Green shortly before 8pm this evening (Monday).

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said they were called to reports of a road traffic collision and a pedestrian was found injured at the scene.

No more details about the casualty or the severity of their condition have been disclosed.

However they are currently receiving medical assistance a GMP spokesman told the Manchester Evening News.

Police said the pedestrian was now in the hands of medics (ASP)

A man has been arrested in connection with the incident the spokesman added and investigations into the collision were continuing.

A large cordon remains in place with neighbouring Newall Road closed from Greenbrow Road to White Carr Lane.

Officers from GMP's serious collision investigation unit are currently examining the scene.

Eyewitnesses said a black Volkswagen could be seen parked on the pavement with police inspecting damage at its back end.
