The incident happened near the Ballymore Eustace Road roundabout in Naas just before 9pm on Sunday. It is understood that while the man, aged in his 30s, was being arrested, a garda was assaulted and a patrol car was also seriously damaged during the incident.

The member of the force who was assaulted was taken to Naas General Hospital, but thankfully, their injuries are not considered to be serious.
