A man has been arrested following a public order incident in Co Kildare last night, which saw a garda hospitalised after being assaulted.
The incident happened near the Ballymore Eustace Road roundabout in Naas just before 9pm on Sunday. It is understood that while the man, aged in his 30s, was being arrested, a garda was assaulted and a patrol car was also seriously damaged during the incident.
The member of the force who was assaulted was taken to Naas General Hospital, but thankfully, their injuries are not considered to be serious. A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardai attended a public order incident on Ballymore Eustace Road, Co. Kildare at approximately 8:50pm on Sunday 14th August 2022.

"A male, 30s, was arrested under the Public Order Act 1994, and conveyed to Naas Garda Station. During the course of the arrest, criminal damage was committed to a patrol car and the arrested male assaulted a member of An Garda Síochána.
"The Garda member was brought to Naas General Hospital for treatment of non-serious injuries. Investigations are ongoing," they added.
