A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a deadly blaze at a property in Dagenham.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Oval Road North at approximately 5.40pm on Saturday after receiving reports of a fire.
Upon forcibly entering the premises, firefighters made the grim discovery of a deceased male, believed to be in his 70s.
His family have been informed.
The incident is being treated as suspicious, with murder squad detectives spearheading the investigation.
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder, Scotland Yard said on Monday evening.
A man arrested over the weekend has been released on bail.
